Food for Living: Desire For Success

Published

on

By Henry Ukazu
Greetings Friends,

The desire of every living being on earth is to be successful? If I may ask; what do you stand to gain if you are not successful? If you are not “successful” in life, you may live at the mercy of others. As human beings, one of our primary aims in life is to be successful. This is because once you are successful, you will attract opportunities. Isn’t it true that success attracts many fathers while failure is an orphan? Success in itself is not easy, you must desire it. Success is like money which if you don’t desire, you won’t get it.

What does it mean for a person to be successful? In my humble opinion, being successful means achieving your desired visions and planned goals.  During the course of this article, we shall be discussing how we can desire success while attracting it. In one of the articles I wrote a few years ago entitled The Relativity of Success, I shared valuable information on what success means to different people. For example, Mr. A’s definition of success is different from Mr. B’s definition of success. This is because what Mr. A likes may differ from what Mr. B likes. This is why most people engage in difference businesses, disciplines and careers in life. They do this because they have figured out who they are, their interest and how they want to be remembered.
Amidst all this, one outstanding difference among all successful people is that they made conscious decision and choice to achieve success. They didn’t just wake up and became successful. No, they put in the work while desiring a positive result.
Everyone has a desire to be successful. However, with most people, the focus generally tends towards career success. Personal life success is also important. For you to be successful, you must plan and work towards it. For example, all successful people had a burning desire that made them wake up every morning and pursue their dreams.
If you are asked, what do you desire most in life, what will be your response? Money, title, children, academic qualification, etc. In order for you to desire and achieve success, you must be passionate about a particular area of life.
How we can desire and achieve success:
1. Find your passion and purpose: This is the starting point of all interest and desire in life. This is where your imagination and subconscious mindset come in. Whatever you want to do in life, starts with a thought. Whether you are a student, businessman/woman, career professional, artisan, politician or even comedian; you must desire to get to the pinnacle of your career. Let me share a hidden secret with you; just like you can’t serve two masters at the same time and give them apt attention, the same way you can’t have passion for two areas of life and expect to get the same result. Once you distinguish yourself from an area of life, you will have the leverage to engage in another industry. Just like having streams of income, one of the income may serve as door opener which brings other business opportunities to you. Hence, as a matter of advice, always spend a considerable amount of time on your passion and then spend a little bit of time managing other areas of interest.2. Set your Goals: Once you discover your passion, the next target is to set your goals and work towards achieving it. Goals are very important in life. You can do this by seeking knowledge as opposed to results. The results will gradually come down when people see how knowledgeable you are.  Your goals help to discipline you by making you focus on your set objectives.  Once your goals are properly set, don’t just look for money immediately, your primary aim should be to provide values and services by solving problems to your targeted audience. Once you do, gradually, resources will begin to come your way. Your goals help you to stay committed in addition to being motivated. Once you are committed to a task, it is easy for people to identify and support you.

3. Surround Yourself with Positive People: You may have heard of the saying, if you are the smartest person in the room, leave the room and if ten of your friends are millionaires, you are next in life. What this literally means is that your network determines your net worth. Good friends help to inspire you with empowering information and mentorship. Once you have a good team you are working with, there’s high probability you will be successful. Isn’t it true that if you want to go fast in life, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with a team?

4. Create a study/strategic plan: This is by far one of the most resourceful ways of achieving success. If you are serious about your plan, you must be strategic about providing new ideas on how to leverage the market. Some of the ways you can achieve this are by learning new skills necessary for business, networking with the right people/associations/organizations; and being educated.

If you have a burning interest in something or a burning desire to do something, you will make out time to do it. Everybody is busy in life, but we only make out time for what we desire/want to do and then make an excuse for what we don’t want to do.
In conclusion, do you desire for success? If yes, what are you doing to achieve it?

Afenifere Chieftain Accuses APC of Manipulating Figures, Deceiving Nigerians

Published

on

Oba Oladipo Olaitan, a leader of Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organization, Afenifere, has blasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during an interview on ‘Sunrise Daily’, a programme on Channels Television, Olaitan said APC is good at deceiving people and manipulating figures.

“APC is good at what they know how to do – deceive people, manipulate figures, conceal issues, that’s their job and they know how to do it.

“The question I have is, do you feel safe where you are now?

“The last administration before the current one, the story is out there that just because they want to rule this nation by hook or crook, they go to the extent of imposing foreign nationals – Fulanis to be precise, coming into this country to destroy the nation if they could not get power.

“If anybody has that type of mind, nothing good can come out of him. And the current President, when he was campaigning, he told Nigerians that it was his turn. What that means is it’s either me or nobody else,” Olaitan said.

Tinubu’s Minister Blames Enugu Gov for His Certificate Forgery Ordeal

Published

on

The embattled Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has accused Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, of masterminding allegations of certificate forgery leveled against him.

Speaking through his spokesperson Dr. Robert Ngwu, the minister described the allegation as a politically motivated witch-hunt aimed at discrediting him ahead of the governor’s alleged plan to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Mbah wants Nnaji out of his way. He has given a new name to all his problems. He is seeking a second term in office, and the only way to achieve this is to get Nnaji out of the way. He wants to join APC, but knowing that Nnaji is there, he is not comfortable,” Ngwu alleged.

An online news medium had earlier reported that Nnaji forged the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) certificate he submitted to President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly during his ministerial screening.

Reacting, the minister urged the UNN authorities to uphold their integrity and resist political manipulation by reaffirming the authenticity of their official records.

“This is not just about one man’s academic record; it is about protecting truth, preserving institutional honour, and ensuring that no university in Nigeria becomes a pawn in partisan politics,” he stated.

Ngwu maintained that Nnaji graduated from UNN in July 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry, a fact reflected in the university’s official records and its 1985 convocation brochure.

He cited a letter issued by the university on December 21, 2023, during Nnaji’s ministerial screening, confirming that “Mr. Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji, with registration number 1981/30725, was admitted in 1981 to study Microbiology/Biochemistry and graduated in July, 1985, with a Bachelor of Science, Second Class (Honours) Lower Division.”

According to Ngwu, the letter remains the only authentic communication from UNN on the matter.

He, however, alleged that another letter surfaced in May 2025, purportedly from the university, claiming that there were no records of Nnaji’s graduation — a development he attributed to political interference.

He further accused the Vice Chancellor of UNN of being a card-carrying member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly acting on the governor’s instruction to tarnish the minister’s image.

Ngwu also disclosed that the Minister had approached the court when he got wind of attempts to tamper with his academic file.

He said that on September 22, the court granted an injunction restraining the university’s management from altering his records and issued an order of mandamus compelling the release of his academic transcript — which, according to him, the school has refused to obey.

“Rather than adhering to the valid court order, the Vice Chancellor, a lawyer by profession, resorted to cyberbullying and politically motivated media trial against the Minister,” Ngwu said.

He added that the entire episode was politically driven: “It is increasingly clear that this entire issue is not about education or integrity but about political desperation disguised as academic inquiry.

“The timing, the sources, the false documents, and the paid narratives all point to a coordinated campaign to drag a reputable public servant into the mud of partisan politics.”

Natasha Returns to Legislative Duties after Six Months Suspension

Published

Senator representing Kogi central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Tuesday, returned to her seat in the Senate to resume her legislative duties.

According to TheCable, the Senator walked into the senate chamber at about 11.42am with a smile and smirk, made her way to her seat and after making herself comfortable, exchanged pleasantries with a few senators.

The legislator was accompanied to the senate by a handful of activists and loyalists, including Aisha Yesufu, who was spotted in the gallery.

Some of the lawmaker’s supporters were, however, not allowed into the senate gallery.

Her return, in as much as a court described her six-month suspension as excessive, followed after she exhaustively served out the half a year suspension.

The senate had earlier unsealed her office to pave the way for her return, days after the national assembly insisted that she remained suspended, citing ongoing litigation.

Her resumption comes amid longstanding controversy over her allegation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

During her suspension, imposed on March 6, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan was not allowed access to her office, with her security detail and allowances withdrawn.
