NIS Boss Decorates Promoted Senior Officers with New Ranks
As a follow up to the release of the 2021 Senior Officers’ promotion list by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), the acting Comptroller General Isah Jere Idris, has decorated 94 promoted officers to their new ranks.
The event took at the Service Headquarters Abuja, according to a statement signed by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr Amos Okpu, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
A total of 24 newly promoted Assistant Comptrollers General (ACG) and 70 Comptrollers of Immigration Service were adorned with their new ranks in a decoration ceremony attended by the top echelon of the paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior, senior officials of the CDCFIB and management staff of the Service.
In his address, the acting Comptroller General Isah Jere Idris stated that the event was a demonstration of the renewed commitment to the welfare of staff by the Service. This he noted, is in line with the three-point agenda which include border security, Passport reform and personnel welfare, he unfolded upon assumption of office.
He charged the newly promoted officers to deepen their commitment to duty and supervision of subordinates to ensuring that operational efficiency is sustained and quality service delivery improved. He added that the Service shall not accept average performance from them in any situation where excellence is achievable.
Earlier, the Director/Secretary of the CDCFIB, Hajiya Aisha Rufai’ congratulated the newly promoted Officers and described their promotion as well-deserved stressing that the Board looked at their conducts, performances, oratory and skills sets before considering them for the promotion. Also, a Commissioner of the Board in-charge of Appointment and Promotion, Major General Emmanuel Bassey (rtd), called on the Officers to lead their men with integrity and be ready at all times to display the highest levels of discipline and decorum as senior members of the Service.
Among the Officers decorated with their new ranks of Assistant Comptroller General and Comptroller of Immigration include ACG Kemi Nandap, the Officer in-charge of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport Lagos, the immediate past Principal Staff Officer to the acting CGI, ACG Ahmad Bauchi Aliyu fsi and Comptroller Mustapha Ahmad, Special Assistant to the acting CGI on Operations.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola had on Tuesday at the Conference Room of the Ministry, decorated four Deputy Comptrollers General of Immigration (DCG) who were also promoted. They include DCG Oluremi Talabi, DCG Josephine Kwazu fdc, DCG Modupe Anyalechi and DCG Muhammad Aminu Muhammad mni. The Minister congratulated them for their new appointments and urged them to deploy their experiences and expertise in the nation’s fight against insecurity.
Some important personalities at the recent event included ACG Ado Jaffaru (rtd), a Federal Commissioner at the CDCFIB, distinguished Senator Uba Sani, the Secretary to the government of Kaduna State, Mallam Bala Abbas Lawal, representatives of the heads of the Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service and Correctional Service among others.

POSTPONEMENT OF ADRON GAMES 2024

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. James Sule, has retired from service after 35 years of meritorious service to the nation, according to a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Bolaji Kazeem, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
The Permanent Secretary however, charged the directorate cadre to mentor officers in the service for effective service delivery to the citizens, as a parting advice.
He made the charge during the send-forth ceremony organized on his behalf by the Ministry staff at the Headquarters of the Ministry in Abuja.
The retired Permanent Secretary said that everything starts and ends with leadership and the need to uphold the organization’s rules and regulations without considering people’s feelings.
“We are all leaders just like I said, don’t just think the president, vice president, and governors are only leaders. What can you do in your community to impact positively on others? What are you doing to mentor the younger ones so that whatever corner you find yourself in, whether you are a union leader, whether you are an assistant director or you are a principal officer, you do your best to be fair, accountable, and transparent in your activities?
He used the opportunity to thank the management and staff of the Ministry for their support and for working with him as a team to ensure the success of the ministry.
According to James, “Indeed, it was a privilege to work alongside a talented and committed team. Together we have achieved a lot, and I am proud of knowing you and we have accomplished it while we were here although it was short, I also want to thank you for your kind words. I thank my personal staff that’s brought so much to the nation-building,” he said.
In his response, the Director charged with the Permanent Secretary Office, Mr. Yusuf Abubakar Argungu, stated that the staff has learned so much from the retired Permanent Secretary noting that the friendship and mentorship have just begun and not the end of it, just the beginning of it.
“It is the perfect time to reflect on the invaluable lessons, experiences, and memories you have shared with us and to experience our heartfelt appreciation. Retirement isn’t the end of an era but the beginning of a new chapter in life. We are wishing you a retirement filled with exciting journeys. Congratulations,” he said.
