Food for Living: Building Sustainable Future with Life’s Experiences

Published

on

Dear Destiny Friends,

“Life is about experience… You can’t hold on to everything” –  Sarah Addison Allen,

Everyday lessons constitute a part of the many beautiful experiences life has to offer. Some of these lessons are the very experiences we either share or imagine. Being alive ensures we encounter one experience after another, and some of these experiences can be in relationship/marriage, academia, business, spiritual, politics or personal. As one journeys through life, they must surely experience the intricacies. Life on its own is an experience. These experiences are invariably drawn from lessons.

It is the experience of life that gives us stories and memories which can either be sweet or sour. However, most people are afraid, and don’t dare to experience life. They fear to take risks. They fail to understand that the fear of taking risk is risk itself. The advantage of taking risks is that it can open a new layer of opportunity for you. When it comes to risk taking, one must be intentional and strategic. In preparing for risk as well, one must prepare for the best and expect the unexpected. That helps to maintain a mentally stable disposition whichever way the situation goes.

It should be noted that every experience in life is for a purpose. Your task is to figure it out. One of the greatest relationship advice my late mother gave me while growing up was to take the good part in anyone I meet, and leave the bad one. This is because every mistake in life comes with an associated value just like in relationship, and value is meant to be appreciated. So, as you journey through life, never stop learning because life is filled with lessons.

If anyone says they don’t have any experience, they are simply saying, they haven’t really lived. It is instructive to note that how one lives his life says a lot about who they are. Our life can be summed up with the experiences we have had. Just like the more the risk, the more the opportunities, the more experience, the more the wisdom and understanding.

The experiences of life are numerous. I will be sharing some practical life principles, which if diligently applied, will spring up a definite change.

One of the greatest lessons life has taught the human race is that a good reputation is better than money. It is the experience that is carried all through life. It’s sad to note that some people place money above building sustainable relationships. These poor minds always see someone who gives them money as a good person. Money is good, no doubt, but it won’t solve all life’s problems.

Life will not always be fair. It is not programmed to be fair. So, just like rain falls on every roof, good and bad things happen to good and bad people. Never take life personally. Accept things you cannot change, and believe that the universe is not against you, rather it’s working for your success.

Regardless of how life has treated you, it is imperative to have mentors or trusted advisors, who have been through situations or have more insight to life. They help to balance life when it gets tough.

The most important experience life can teach one is how to value their family. Prioritizing your immediate and extended family is critical to your success. It is instructive to note that you can choose your friends, but you can’t select your family. It is also understandable that family can sometimes be a burden and some friends can bond more than family, but when you compare and contrast, family remains the ultimate. This is because towards the end of life, the only person who can be at your bedside are your immediate family members. Moral: You can’t be too busy for your friends and family.

To enjoy the experience of life, you must have a good mindset. Your attitude towards life is very critical. Your perception and understanding of life go a long to showcase how far you can go in life. The thoughts you programme in your mind can either attract or chase away opportunities.

This is because you might not always get what you want. But you will always get what you deserve. Therefore, it is important to keep an open mind to life.

Finally, the most important aspect of life experience is centered on human relationships. Therefore, value relationships. Build and nurture relationships. Endeavor to be at peace with all men, if possible.  Connections, contacts, and relationships will become increasingly important for you to effectively get things accomplished, and grow.

Relationships are currency if properly harnessed and nurtured. Life is summed up with the relationship you keep. The good and bad aspects of life are centered on relationships.

In conclusion, use your experiences and lessons of life to build a sustainable future because your pain can metamorphose into your gain. Don’t let your pain go to waste, turn it into your treasure.

Food for Living: The Power of Transformation

Published

on

By Henry Ukazu

Dear Destiny Friends,

Apart from having access to power, opportunities and being financially independent, nothing elevates a human being more than transformation.

Transformation occurs in different stages of life. Plants experience transformation by metamorphosis; animals experience transformation, human beings experience transformation; children, parents, students, leaders etc. all experience transformation from conception to death.

In the academic or professional environment, before anyone can be transformed, one must have added value to oneself which will enable him to serve and make an impact in the world. Transformation comes in various ways, one can transform by meeting someone, going to school, having a relationship with your creator, learning a skill and being in the political space.

In the journey of life, most people undergo multiple transformations throughout their lives. Although change can be uncomfortable, it can open new layers of life if one is properly transformed. Transformation is a powerful, valuable experience that’s capable of giving one what I call an encounter.

Do you know an encounter can lead to a transformation. Whenever you have an encounter, your life will change. An encounter can be meeting someone, attaining financial independence, getting a new job, or even accruing a formal education.

Let me share an example of how transformation works. Imagine a parent who saves hundreds of dollars   every week for his child until the child becomes of age, say 18 or 25 years and he decides to pay for college to buy a property for the child. Also, contrast the same scenario to when the father decides to give that child the money or even buy him a property before he becomes of age, what do you think would have happened? The truth is that the child won’t be able to appreciate the value of what he has because he hasn’t been matured or mentally transformed to understand the value of what he has. That’s simply how the power of transformation works.

Imagine, if the father of the child gives the child a car, the child might bash the car which can either lead to his death or even an arrest of the father who will eternally regret his action. The moral here is that one will have to mentally strong to manage certain opportunities, otherwise, it can become a curse as opposed to a blessing.

The reality of life is that, for you to get to a certain position you must be renewed in mind, otherwise one might make a mess of oneself.  The moral of this is that every time you are not mature enough to attract an opportunity either mentally or physically, that blessing can turn into a curse. This is because good things can be destroyed in the hands of someone who is not transformed to handle it.

Let’s take a case of the child who was given a car, imagine a case where a luxury car was given to a ten-year-old child to drive, that might sound like a blessing, but in reality, the car can lead to the death of that child because he’s not capable of driving the car or competent enough to appreciate what is in his hands.

Again, let’s see transformation from the spiritual perspective, sometimes success depends on many factors before they arrive at a certain level. Sometimes, you might be praying for an opportunity and the creator knows very well your mindset and thoughts needs cleansing from certain lifestyles, habits and associations before the blessings and prayers can work. In some cases, the creator knows fully well, you are not qualified for the position you are aspiring for, he might delay you to be fully transformed before your request is granted.

What really is transformation, Transformation is a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance mentally or spiritually. Transformation changes the outlook of something. When you have a simple hair cut, you are transforming your face, just like how beauticians transform the face of someone when you dress, you are transforming yourself. When we talk of transformation, it’s not limited to academic, mental, spiritual, or even career. Transformation can take various forms; it can even take personal or developmental. Transformation can result because of an increase in your finances, health, education, relationship etc.

The blessings and opportunities of transformation are priceless. To get to the next stage of life, one needs to be transformed. Do you know there are certain opportunities you can’t get unless you are transformed, or have acquired certain skills or qualities. This is why Jim Rohm said Success is something you attract by the person you become” For you to become, you must transform yourself by adding value to yourself.

Let me share a personal story with you. During my formative years in New York, I worked as a security officer for many years, many people laughed at me, some used sarcastic words by way of mockery, the future appeared bleak and insecure for me. I was privileged to have good mentors who honed my writing and speaking skills. Some believed in me, gave me opportunities, and spoke life into me. These acts inspired me to write my first and second book in addition to starting a human capacity development company. In three ways, I have seen myself traveling to different countries, speaking on various leadership and human development topics. I have also appeared on television, gained social currency, etc all because of the transformation that has taken place in my life.

If you truly want to be great, you must be truly transformed. After all, isn’t it true that you can’t be doing the same thing repeatedly and remain the same. In the journey of life, transformation is not negotiable. It should be noted, transformation is not a gift, neither can it be received by impartation, you must work for it by earning it.

For spiritual transformation to manifest, you must mortify your flesh, you must be delivered, you must be renewed in your mind, and be circumcised to get to a certain level.

To be fully transformed is not easy. It takes a lot of hard work and principles. For instance, one must be consistent. One of the painful experiences of life is beginning a task and leaving it halfway.

Transformation prepares one for the task ahead. The worst thing that can happen to anyone is entering a relationship, business, spiritual realm etc. without being transformed. It’s just like going into marriage without taking a marriage course to know the basics of marriage or going into a ministry without divine assignment and complete transformation, you might have a hard time succeeding when you hit a roadblock.

To be transformed, one must develop or seek knowledge, practice meditation, and separate oneself from anything that’s not consistent with the principles, vision, and ideology one wishes to uphold.

When you are transformed, there are certain benefits that will come to you. Transformation will position you for better opportunities, which can launch you into your destiny.; and it makes people appreciate you more due to the value you earn. For example, personal transformation can make you healthy if you decide to work on your diet. You can exercise, you can read, you can learn a skill and attend professional or certificate courses to enhance your knowledge on a particular subject matter. Personal transformation can help you to improve personal relationships.

In conclusion, if you want to get to the next stage or attract the next bi opportunity, endeavor to work more on yourself than you do on your job. This is because when you work on your job you can make a living, but when you work on yourself, you can make a fortune.

Court Sets Aside Order for Arrest of Fubara’s CoS, Says It’s Mere Academic Exercise

Published

on

The Order of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for the arrest of Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and granted by Justice Emeka Nwite on the 31st of January, 2024, has been set aside, today, 25th April, 2024.

Justice Emeka Nwite had on January 31 ordered Ehie’s arrest in connection with the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly on October 30, 2023.

The police, in the charges, alleged that Ehie and five others masterminded the bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly amid a plot to impeach Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The five others are Jinjiri Bala, Happy Benedict, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri, and Chibuike Peter, alias Rambo.

Justice Emeka Nwite while reading the ruling setting aside the order given by the court against Eddison Ehie declaring him wanted and granting an order of arrest said it as now becoming a mere academic exercise.

The judge further granted same to the 2nd-5th Defendant/Applicant in same suit.

Eddison Ehie had a team of representation including Falana SAN, Wole Oladoye SAN, Dr Bimpe Ajegbomogun and Barr. Asmau Yakubu

Though Ehie’s name was mentioned in the counts, he was not listed among the defendants.

He said, “He was never invited by the police for anything. All that he saw was that they filed a charge; they mentioned his name in four out of seven charges for murder and arson.”

Aladedoye also argued that it was strange that the Inspector-General of Police left all the courts in Rivers State, where the alleged offences were committed, to file an application before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

“Your Lordship has no jurisdiction to entertain the matter here, “Aladedoye said.

Counsel for the other defendants, Femi Falana (SAN), said the crime his clients were alleged to have committed were state offences.

In the application it was stated that “What is disclosed are state offences; it is our submission that this court cannot exercise any jurisdiction in state offences without the fiat of the Attorney General of Rivers State.”

How Yahaya Bello Used Kogi’s $720k to Pay Children’s School Fees in Advance – EFCC Chairman

Published

on

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that the now embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, withdrew $720,000 from the State government’s account to pay his child’s school fee.

The EFCC boss disclosed this to journalists in Abuja.

The former governor was last week declared wanted by the commission for alleged N80.2 billion fraud.

EFCC operatives, during the period, stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja to arrest him, but were stopped by his security aides.

Two courts of coordinate jurisdiction also issued conflicting rulings on the matter. While the Kogi State High Court in Lokoja restrained the EFCC from arresting the former governor, the Federal High Court gave the commission the go-ahead to arrest Bello preparatory to his arraignment for alleged fraud.

Olukoyede said: “A sitting governor, because he knows he is going, moved money directly from government to bureau de change, used it to pay the child’s school fee in advance, $720,000 in advance, in anticipation that he was going to leave the Government House.

“In a poor State like Kogi, and you want me to close my eyes to that under the guise of ‘I’m being used.’ Being used by who at this stage of my life?

“I didn’t initiate the case; I inherited the case file. I called for the file, and I said there are issues here.

“On my own, I called him, which I am not supposed to do, just to honour him as an immediate past governor. ‘Sir, there are issues. I’ve seen this case file. Can you just come let us clarify these issues?

“He said, ‘Ha! Thank you, my brother. I know, but I can’t come. There’s one lady that has surrounded EFCC with over 100 people to come and embarrass me and intimidate me.

“I said if that is the issue, I’m going to pass you through my own gate, and you will come to my floor. We will accord you that respect. I will invite my operatives; they will interrogate and interview you in my own office. What could be more honourable than that to allay the fear?

“You know what he said: ‘Thank you, sir, but can’t they come to my village? “
