NAOSNP Begins 2025 Week, to Host National Conference, Workshop, Exhibition, Others

The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has released a list of activities scheduled to take place as it prepares to host the annual NAOSNP WEEK 2025 which feature its flagship conference, NAOSNP National Security Conference and Awards, NAOSNP Workshop for Media Practitioners on security reporting, NAOSNP Walk Against Cultism, Drug Abuse and Domestic Violence, NAOSNP for Cleaner Lagos, NAOSNP Un-penned Party among others.

The NAOSNP National Security Conference has over the years become the largest media-organized security conference, gathering top public and private stakeholders in Nigeria’s security architecture.

The Association, reputed to assemble to best of Security reporters and publishers, noted via a statement signed by the Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee, who doubles as the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Mr. Eric Elezuo, that a host of mouthwatering events have been lined up for the security renewal of the Nigerian society.

The statement emphasized that that the pot pourri of social and security based activities will be on display ranging from cleaning up exercise in selected areas of Lagos State, media workshop, Juma’at and Church thanksgiving services, a get-together and not forgetting the major conference and awards where distinguished speakers, security experts and contributors have been lined up to provide insight into the much needed security networking for the nation. The conference comes with a theme; Securing and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Economic Resources: A Call to Serve.

Speaking on the 2025 NAOSNP activities, the President of the Association, Mr. Samson Oki, noted that “this year’s conference has been expanded to accommodate much more to further boost security networking, enhance intelligence policing and enrich community relationships, thereby making it a week-long activity

“We at NAOSNP understand the importance of security and safety, and year in and out, we have taken it upon ourselves in inform Nigerians about the happenings around them as well as measures being employed by both government and private agencies to boost policing and intelligence gathering using time tested and trusted experts across all divides.

“We will not only talk this year; we will find time to unwind with experts in the industry, clean up designated areas in our headquarters state, Lagos, conduct veritable exhibition and give thanks to God Almighty in various worship centres.

“This year NAOSNP Week’s Theme: “Securing and Safeguarding Nigeria’s Economic Resources: A Call to Serve” is in line with our zeal to ‘Build Peace and Strong Institutions’ as the United Nations SDG 16 envisions. We aim for a Nigeria where
all forms of crime and violence is reduced, matters of corruption are addressed, transparency and accountability is
promoted in the use of the country’s vast economic resources, the president said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the 2025 Planning Committee, Mr. Samuel Awoyinfa, promised a wholesome activity for every participant, urging all Nigerians to come out enmasse as another opportunity to learn the rudiments of security beckons, especially when a photo exhibition to celebrate the efforts of officers across security agencies is held

“Also, as part of activities during the NAOSNP Conference to mark The NAOSNP Week, the association will be showcasing a ‘Photo Exhibition.’ This is to celebrate the yeoman efforts of the security agencies men and women in the course of their duties to fatherland. It encompasses images spanning several decades, across all cadres of
security agencies in Nigeria from pre-Independence era to the current. We call on members of the public to turn up in their numbers to give honour to those honour are due,” the chairman noted.

The 2025 NAOSNP Week-long activities are expected to holt between October 15 and 21 with the flagship National Conference and Awards taking place at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Alleged Infidelity: Jealous Wife Sets Soldier-Husband Ablaze in A’Ibom

A Nigerian Army officer, Lieutenant Samson Haruna, has died after sustaining severe burns when his wife allegedly set him on fire during a domestic dispute in Akwa Ibom State.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 22, 2025, at the Wellington Bassey Barracks in Ibagwa, Abak Local Government Area of the state.

According to a report shared on X by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on Tuesday, the late officer, who served as a Regimental Medical Officer with the Army’s 6 Battalion, had a heated altercation with his wife, identified as Mrs. Samson Haruna, which escalated violently.

Sources cited by Makama alleged that during the argument, the woman doused her husband with petrol and set him ablaze.

Lt. Haruna was first treated at the military medical unit within the barracks before being transferred to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, where he later died from his injuries despite efforts by medical personnel to save him.

Military sources confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Lagos Govt Honours Adron Homes over Contribution to Sustainable Urban Development

Flood: Bayelsa, Sokoto, Zamfara, 13 Others, Urged to Take Precautions

The National Flood Early Warning Centre under the Federal Ministry of Environment, has predicted that 16 states will experience heavy rainfall and flooding between October 4 and October 8, 2025.

The prediction notice was signed by the Director, Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani.

The ministry urged relevant stakeholders and State governments to take precautionary measures to mitigate the potential impacts of the predicted flooding.

According to the centre, the areas likely to be hit include:  Delta State (Asaba); Yobe State (Damaturu); Sokoto State (Isa); Zamfara State (Anka, Bungudu, Gusau, Kaura-Namoda, Maradun, Shinkafi); Katsina State (Jibia); Oyo State (Kisi, Oyo); Kebbi State (Ribah, Sakaba, Yelwa); Kano State (Gwarzo, Sumaila, Karaye) and Niger State (Kontagora, Mashegu, Mokwa, New-Bussa, Rijau, Wushishi).

Others are Kwara State (Kosubosu); Benue State (Agaku, Buruku, Gboko, Katsina-Ala, Ugba); Borno State (Briyel); Bayelsa State (Brass, Ikpidiama, Odoni); Cross River State (Edor, Ikom); Rivers State (Itu, Ahoada), and Enugu State (Nsukka).

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as of September 20, at least 232 persons had lost their lives, while 121,224 others had been displaced following floods that swept through parts of the country.

The 2025 flood dashboard shows that at least 339,658 people have been affected so far, with 681 sustaining various degrees of injuries.
