A lecturer with the Department of History and International Studies of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Dr Fred Ekpe Ayohkai, has been identified as the leader of a group of people, who attacked and molested one Blessing Mathias, a 20 years old girl in a viral video.

The video, which was in cuts, showed a group angry people comprising male and female, storm an apartment, where a group of female roommates cohabit. From their attire, the setting appears to be early in the morning as the girls were scantily clad.

On entrance, the attackers identified Blessing, who said she was from Jalingo, Taraba State, and ordered her outside with massive beating including smashing a glass window with head. Outside, she was subjected to more floggings before another scene appeared, this time in a secluded area surrounded by bushes. Here, the said Blessing was stripped by Ayohkai himself, and with her full breast dangling without control, the entire family unleashed more heavy beatings on her.

One of the many voices in the video could be heard saying they will strip her naked, abandon her in the bush, and let her find her way home on her own.

Below is the story following the video as captured by Istablog:

“FULAFIA lecturer and his entire family join forces to violently attack and humiliate a 20-yr-old girl for fighting their daughter over a man.

“Dr. Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, a senior lecturer with the department of History and International Studies at Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), was on Friday, October 21, captured on video ruthlessly beating up a 20-year-old girl who fought his daughter over a man.

“The girl, named Blessing Mathias, had sometime last week confronted Ayokhai’s daughter, Emmanuella Onawegie, for trying to snatch her boyfriend, simply identified as IG.

“Blessing confronted Emmanuel in Lafia, Nasarawa State, after she found out that she had her boyfriend’s number and was chatting with him. She had asked her to delete the number but Emmanuel blatantly refused, leading to a fight.

“Fast forward to yesterday, Emmanuel in company of her father, Ekpe Ayokhai, her brother, Praise Shola; and other family members, stormed Blessing’s home to give her the most inhuman treatment of her life.

“Videos recorded by the family show that they used sticks, belt, other objects to savagely attack her before forcing her into their car. They, thereafter, drove her deep into an unknown forest where the senior lecturer used a pair of scissors to tear her dress from her body.

“They later pushed her out of the car, took pics of her and abandoned her in the forest.

A prominent Lagos hotelier, Otunba Kunle Akinyele, tragically passed away on Saturday after collapsing during a church thanksgiving service held in honour of his wife’s 60th birthday.

The incident occurred at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Iyanu, Odemuyiwa District Headquarters, Egbeda, Lagos State, leaving family, friends, and well-wishers in deep shock.

In a now-viral video shared on Facebook by Ayoade Ojeniyi on Sunday, the late businessman appeared visibly distressed, gesturing frantically—apparently requesting water or an inhaler—moments before slumping while delivering his testimony.

The thanksgiving service had been organised to celebrate his wife, Deaconess Catherine Adejoke Akinyele, with a grand reception scheduled to follow immediately after at Noble Castle Events Centre, Igando.

However, those plans were abruptly halted when news broke that Akinyele had collapsed in church. Despite frantic efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

One of the event vendors, who shared their experience via Facebook, said they had arrived at the reception venue as early as 10 am for the party, which was set to commence by 2pm.

The vendor wrote: “The celebrant, her husband, their children, and guests had all gone to church for the thanksgiving, intending to proceed to the reception afterwards. Varieties of foods were ready, decoration set, cocktails, emu oguro, and more. The live band had already mounted about 25 speakers. This is how people die? I can’t even think of asking for my balance for the job.”
