NCAA Meets Comfort Emmanson, Ibom Air Crew Members over Airport Incident
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed meeting with Comfort Emmanson, the Akwa Ibom Air passenger, who was involved in a disagreement with some crew members of the airline during a flight en route to Lagos from Uyo, in Akwa Ibom State.
The agency’s spokesman, Michael Achimugu, who disclosed this on Thursday, however, said Emmanson was accompanied by her lawyer, but he did not provide further details about the meeting.
“NCAA has held a meeting with Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger,” Achimugu posted on his official X handle on Thursday.
However, he had earlier disclosed that as part of investigations into the incident, the agency on Wednesday met with crew members involved.
He also said the NCAA’s directorates of aviation security, operations, licensing, and training standards, legal, and consumer protection were collaborating to ensure a proper conclusion of the investigation.
“Yesterday (Thursday) in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the crew involved in the Comfort Emmanson incident as part of investigations into that event.
“The NCAA’s directorates of aviation security, operations, licensing, and training standards, legal, and consumer protection were collaborating to ensure a proper conclusion to this investigation. Later today, Comfort Emmanson, the passenger, would be meeting with the Authority. She is being accompanied by her lawyer,” Achimugu stated on X.
Emmanson had assaulted a flight attendant and was confrontational with security agents at the Lagos airport on August 10, 2025.
Videos of Emmanson and one of the flight attendants in a clash had gone viral.
Though many Nigerians faulted the passenger for her aggressive display, they also faulted one of the airline’s flight attendants, who were filmed while blocking the passenger from disembarking.
Emmanson was arrested by the police at the airport, arraigned at a Lagos court, and remanded in prison. But she was later released, and charges against her were dropped.

Speaking at the official launch in Osogbo on Wednesday, Governor Ademola Adeleke commended Globacom for supporting the state’s digital drive. He described the project as a crucial step towards bridging communication gaps in the public sector.
“With the launch of 20,000 Glo Imole Connect lines today, we are taking a bold step towards improving our public servants’ linkage across the State. These lines, operating under a closed user group (CUG) arrangement, come with significantly reduced call and data rates,” Governor Adeleke noted.
He further explained that, “one of the challenges in public governance has always been the difficulty of seamless communication. Information does not always move quickly or efficiently and this has often led to avoidable delays and disconnections between agencies and officers across different levels. With this new arrangement, I am confident that we will begin to close those gaps and work in closer alignment.”
On his part, Globacom’s National Head, Enterprise Business Group, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, assured that the company was committed to enhancing service delivery in Osun State through efficient communication.

It also added that the competition “is our modest way at Glo Foundation of celebrating and encouraging the girl child to focus more on the studies of STEM subjects and pursue careers in these areas in future so as to become problem solvers for the country”.
The overall winning school with the best idea walks away with N2,000,000 prize, while the 2 Students who will represent the school will get a laptop each, and the Teacher/Mentor/STEM Coordinator gets a token of N200,000. The students of the schools that come 2nd and 3rd, as well as the Teachers/Mentors/STEM Coordinators will also get consolation prizes.
